The Gates Cambridge Scholarship is an international postgraduate award for students to study at the University of Cambridge, with approximately 25 recipients selected each year from the United States.

Applicants must apply for one of the following to be considered:
- Ph.D. (full time or part time)
- M.Litt. (full time)
- One-year, full-time postgraduate course (See here for exceptions)
- There is no age requirement to apply
Citizenship
- Both U.S. and International students (except U.K. citizens) may apply
- Approximately 25 scholarships available in U.S. round
- Approximately 55 scholarships available in international round
